The DREAM BOX
We have less than a month to ensure the next Democratic candidate for the mayor of New York isn't Andrew Cuomo. Poll after poll shows how progressive candidates can defeat the presumptive front-runner – even the ones bought by Cuomo’s own strategy firm and uncritically laundered by the media. Yet for the Don’t Rank Evil Andrew for Mayor (DREAM) strategy to work, it will require all progressive campaigns to act as one, with one voice.
That is why we're calling on the supporters of the campaigns of Zohran Mamdani, Brad Lander, Adrienne Adams, Zellnor Myrie, and Michael Blake to:
1. DEMAND IMMEDIATE CROSS-ENDORSEMENTS.
2. INSTRUCT SUPPORTERS NOT TO RANK CUOMO.
3. STRONGLY CONSIDER RANKING ZOHRAN MAMDANI AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE BASED ON CLEAR POLLING TRENDS, ARMY OF VOLUNTEERS, AND ON-THE-GROUND ENTHUSIASM.
4. ATTACK CUOMO USING THE DREAM FRAMING.
Recent polls show Andrew Cuomo can be defeated if voters for all the progressive candidates DREAM.
This means supporters of the progressive candidates must demand their candidates:
A. Cross-endorse each other, ranking Zohran Mamdani as high as possible based on clear polling trends.
B. Instruct their base of the need to rank 5 non-Cuomo candidates, and not rank Cuomo at all.
Cross-endorsements and explicit rankings are essential to instruct voters on how to fill out their ballot. If every voter followed through, this by itself would defeat Cuomo. But to bolster their case and destroy his support among less attuned voters, candidates must also unify around a clear, visceral, and true message.
This election is about the future. It is about which mayor can stop the chaos of rising inflation, starved public services, and Donald Trump’s fascist regime.
Don’t ask voters to just judge Cuomo’s past. Don’t ask them to judge him like he’s an incumbent in office right now. They don’t want to do that. They just want to know what a mayor is going to do. So stop reviewing the past, and start previewing what he will do:
We know because it’s what he’s doing right now, and it’s what he always has done.
For example: know someone considering Corrupt Chaotic Cuomo? Ask them:
Now you can bring in the past. Say don’t take my word for it, just remember how Cuomo’s corruption and chaos made New York a laughingstock already. It’s why his Emmy got revoked, his COVID book got unprinted, and Cuomo’s last job in office ended with him resigning in disgrace.
We already had four years of Eric Adams’ scandals, corruption, and incompetence. We don’t need another four years of the same, with an even higher price tag for taxpayers.
We need a mayor who will fight Trump, not one Trump will blackmail.
It’s bad enough Trump is using the Department of Justice to pressure his enemies. It’s worse when the subject of investigation actually committed the crimes he’s accused of. Donald Trump isn’t afraid of Andrew Cuomo. In fact, Trump can’t wait to blackmail Cuomo so he’ll allow ICE to snatch New Yorkers off the streets, just like Eric Adams is doing now.
Just because Cuomo is all over the place on every issue doesn’t mean you should be.
Keep it simple. Say what New Yorkers do want, then show how Cuomo Chaos & Corruption will screw it up.
Start with what we do want on the issue. Then show what kind of chaos and corruption Cuomo will cause for that issue. Prove it by citing what kind he’s bringing now, and then finish off with the most chaotic or corrupt move he’s made on it in the past.
Like this:
New York needs a leader who can stand up to Trump—not one who Trump wants to be our mayor.
You may remember Cuomo’s anti-Trump TV show, but look at him now and you’ll start having questions, like:
Why is Andrew Cuomo going out of his way to become the only Democrat in the country to claim NYC never should have found Donald Trump guilty of 34 felony counts?
Why can Andrew Cuomo not go 3 minutes without spending more time attacking AOC for fighting Trump than he does attacking Trump himself?
Why did Andrew Cuomo respond to an innocent New Yorker getting abducted by Trump’s ICE in NYC by implying he deserved it?
How can Cuomo fight off Trump’s investigation of his COVID deaths coverup when Democrats already proved he did it?
These aren’t questions any New Yorker should have to wonder about our mayor.
New Yorkers want to be able to afford to stay in their homes and live in their neighborhoods. Andrew Cuomo’s housing will bring renters nothing but pricing chaos.
In the last month alone, he put out a housing platform written by ChatGPT, while in private, told his landlord donors he’d help them raise rents.
And the last time he held office and tried to build affordable housing, the result was Hudson Yards.
If Cuomo becomes mayor, he’ll try to build a Hudson Yards in every neighborhood. You won’t be wondering if you’ll get priced out, but when.
New Yorkers deserve subways and buses that are affordable, reliable, and get us where we’re going when they’re supposed to.
Cuomo has traveled exclusively by limo for decades, which is why he doesn’t have a single thing to say about fixing the MTA besides “chaos.”
Do you want a mayor who once made the biggest MTA funding cuts ever and built the most expensive mile of subway ever at the same time?
Do you want a mayor who thought he could take money out of subways and put it into upstate ski resorts without cause delays so bad, they got dubbed the “Summer of Hell”?
If Cuomo becomes mayor, we won't just have an MTA summer of hell, we’ll have four seasons of it every year.
New Yorkers need a mayor who will fund and improve the schools and healthcare services our families rely on, not wreck them with absurd schemes.
Cuomo's chaotic campaign is saying libraries should charge for books, that teachers should use AI, and railing against education policies that he wrote and passed.
This is a guy who tried to close hospitals, during the peak of COVID, and that was after he cut NYC’s public health funding in half.
Donald Trump is trying to steal billions from NYC. Can we face that with a mayor who can’t even decide if libraries should be free?
New Yorkers need a mayor who will fight the wealthy corporations and billionaires that are making our city unaffordable.
Cuomo’s current campaign is so corrupt, one of the world’s biggest lobbyists is working for it for free. That’s how badly lobbyists want Andrew Cuomo to be mayor.
Cuomo said people who want to tax the rich don’t “have a brain in their head.”
Cuomo is so in bed with the rich, he once tried balance the budget by closing hospitals during the peak of the pandemic instead of taxing billionaires half a percent more.
Do you think Cuomo can take the most money ever in the mayoral election from billionaires, Trump funders, and lobbyists without it affecting him? Does he?
New Yorkers need a mayor who can keep the biggest city in the country functioning.
Cuomo has run the most chaotic mayoral campaign this century: refusing to take questions, skipping every debate he legally can, and running red lights to get away from press.
He’s already broken election law so badly he got fined $1.3 million dollars and counting, wrote his housing platform with ChatGPT.
The only footage we do have of 2025 Cuomo shows why: spending one of his only interviews awkwardly hitting on a female journalist, ranting about AOC behind closed doors, and using endorsement forums to attack policies he passed as governor.
Is Cuomo’s team hiding him the same way Biden’s team tried to hide him? We shouldn’t have to wonder.
